Young people of Merseyside to showcase local talent

MYA-Small Merseyside Youth Association (MYA) has announced details of a performance event to be held at The Auditorium, Liverpool in which local young people will showcase their music and performing arts talents. Combining the work of two of MYA’s long-standing youth projects; Noise, which supports young people to develop personally and socially through music, and; Space, that uses performing and creative arts as a tool for youth work, this event will be a celebration of these incredible young performers. Funded by Hat Trick Productions and supported by Aviva, the show will be held in the 1000-capacity Auditorium, Liverpool featuring a talent-packed programme of music and dance. Noise project leader, Phil Kearns said: “This will be the biggest date so far in these young peoples’ lives, the team are incredibly excited – it’s going to be an amazing evening.”

Tracey Threlfall, Head of Trading at Aviva commented: “Following their success as an Aviva Broker Community Fund winner back in 2013, we’ve been delighted to continue supporting MYA, this time as a local funding partner for this forthcoming worthy event. Regardless of background and skills, to be able to engage with, to enjoy, and to be inspired by high quality music and performance, is a fantastic opportunity for those that get involved.” Over 120 individuals will take part, including performances by inspirational band The Haze; The MYA Choir; and 16-year-old, singer-songwriter Daisy Gill. “The launch of this inaugural event is an important step for MYA and the projects’ members. Noise & Space is about encouraging young people to discover themselves using music and performing arts.” Phil added. Jimmy Mulville of Hat Trick Productions said: “Noise n’ Space resonates strongly for us as we believe that access to performing has a profound impact on young people’s personal development.”
